Unfortunately, due to the impacts of Hurricane Lowell, we cannot accommodate guests arriving on property during these stay dates. The safety of our guests and our employees is our #1 priority at the moment. We are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused, and would gladly modify your existing reservation to future stay dates. If you are already on the island, or still coming, we can help get you set up at another resort.

For guests arriving the week of September 14, we will know more by Friday September 11 on what operations will entail. We will contact guests separately via email and/or phone as we learn more over the next 24-48 hours. We are offering flexible cancellations for guests looking to cancel their trips. Yes. The safety and well-being of our guests and team members remain our highest priority. Thanks to the incredible quick action, dedication, and care of our Koʻa Kea team, and our wonderful guests, everyone on property is safe and accounted for. We are deeply grateful for our community, staff, and guests who immediately stepped up to support one another throughout and after the storm.

Yes, there was some damage from Hurricane Lowell, we already have restoration teams on site assessing the damage and actively planning repairs.

Following Hurricane Lowell, our resort is currently evaluating conditions and completing necessary clean-up to ensure guest and staff safety. While the storm has moved away from Kauai, we are temporarily operating with limited services while prioritizing our current in-house guests. An updated resort operating status will be shared as soon as damage assessments are complete.

We anticipate Ko’a Kea to return to normal operations within the next two weeks, by September 24, 2026.

Our on-property teams on Kauaʻi are actively managing clean-up efforts and dedicating their full attention to our in-house guests. To ensure your inquiries are handled quickly, all calls are being temporarily routed to our central reservations care team.

At this time, and due to the large volume of questions, it is best to email us, and we will get back to all guests asap.

All reservations impacted by the storm for arrivals through September 14 are eligible for a 100% full refund with no cancellation fees or penalties. Alternatively, if you wish to reschedule your stay for a future date, we will apply your deposit in full toward your future stay.

We are waiving all resort-side cancellation fees for storm-impacted dates. We recommend contacting your booking provider directly to initiate the formal refund process, as they hold your original payment details. Our team is flagging all reservations as "emergency cancellation eligible" on our end.

Reservations for September 14 and beyond remain in place at this time. Our team is actively assessing property conditions and island infrastructure following the storm. We kindly ask for a few days to evaluate the situation before making determinations on future arrivals.

Travel conditions across Kauaʻi are continually updating post-storm. We recommend checking directly with your airline for the most up-to-date flight schedules, delays, or rebooking options before traveling to the airport.

We anticipate providing a detailed operational update regarding arrivals for September 14 and beyond within the next few days. We will contact affected guests directly via email and phone as soon as an official determination is made.

If you are scheduled to arrive at Koʻa Kea on Sep 8 - 13.

While we are unable to host arrivals on September 8th or 9th due to storm recovery, the Royal Sonesta Kauaʻi Resort does have room availability and can accept your reservation. Koʻa Kea will issue a full 100% refund for your stay with us, but we do not cover room rates or expenses at secondary properties. Due to high transaction volumes following the storm, please allow a few days for your refund to reflect on your original form of payment. We sincerely apologize for this disruption to your travel plans.

The safety and comfort of our in-house guests remain our highest priority. Our on-site team is dedicated to providing essential guest services, supporting needs related to island conditions, and maintaining safety protocols while storm clean-up is underway.

We are issuing 100% full refunds for all impacted stays, but please allow a few business days for the credit to process and reflect on your original payment method. Because our on-property teams are currently focused on assisting current in-house guests and managing post-storm recovery, as well as handling a high volume of emergency cancellations, processing times are taking slightly longer than usual. We appreciate your patience and will email you a transaction confirmation as soon as your refund is finalized.

At this time, we do not anticipate any impacts to travel in October and beyond.
